Ian Lyman is a filmmaker, designer, photographer and entrepreneur.  After attending film school at NYU, Ian left an internship at Microsoft to create a new kind of music experience for the emerging world of online music.  The result was the blockbuster Sonique, a ground-breaking desktop music app that coupled unparalleled audio fidelity with an entirely new approach to interface design.

On it’s debut in 1998, Sonique quickly became one of the most popular music applications in the world, attracting tens of millions of users with its intuitive visual style and unique features. Lycos, Inc. acquired Sonique in 1999.

Since then, Ian has continued to pursue his passion for media and technology, helping to start a wildly popular art-oriented social network, co-founding a music video game startup, co-owing a micro studio / production company, and producing independent films. Today Ian is a freelance director / DP and motion graphics designer based in Portland, OR.
